The government launched the replacement boiler grant scheme in 2013 with two simple aims: – To reduce the UK’s energy consumption by making homes more efficient To help low income homes become more energy efficient The scheme is part of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) which was passed in Parliament in 2012 and runs until 2026. Funded by the UK’s largest utility companies, the scheme is part of the Home Heating Carbon Reduction Obligation (HHRCO) and contributes to the UK’s carbon reduction targets. It aims to provide private homeowners on qualifying benefits to receive both a free boiler and free insulation, with the overarching aim to reduce fuel poverty amongst low-income households. This is done by ensuring that heat is generated as efficiently as possible and is prevented from escaping from the home. This means that qualifying households will be playing their part in reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2050. You can check whether you are eligible for this scheme by completing a simple pro forma here. UK home owners could be eligible for a fully funded, or heavily discounted, boiler along with receiving free, or heavily discounted, insulation which will result in cheaper energy bills as your home becomes more energy efficient. See the link to household saving table below. You can read more about the UK becoming the first major economy to pass net zero emissions law here.
We provide an end-to-end full service, so from the point of being accepted onto the scheme, you could be enjoying your free energy efficiency measures within 3-4 weeks.

You will start to feel the benefits of the measures we provide instantly. The information below from the Energy Savings Trust gives you an idea, by property type and size, as to what those savings equate to: –

Type of property and typical Savings per year (source Figures based on a typical gas-heated home. All data obtained from the Energy Saving Trust)

Detached house (four bedrooms) – save £275 per year

Semi-detached house (three bedrooms) – save £160 per year

Mid-terrace house (three bedrooms) – save £105 per year

Detached bungalow (two bedrooms) – save £110 per year

The so-called ‘Big Six’ energy companies have made funding of £1.3 billion per year available as part of the Green Deal scheme. This funding is available to make energy-efficient improvements to most properties.
The more energy-efficient your home is, the less energy you use. This means you will save money on your energy bills while reducing your carbon footprint and helping to reduce the impact on the environment.

If your boiler is old it can be very inefficient and you could be wasting up to half the gas you pay for! No. ECO is a grant to provide funding which can be used for improvements to the energy efficiency of your home and does not need to be paid back. ECO is not available for all energy efficiency work and will sometimes depend on certain eligibility criteria. Please be aware that as part of their job, your DEA/GDA (Domestic Energy Assessor/Green Deal Advisor) needs to show you what ECO funding you qualify for during the assessment.

No. The ECO funding used for your free boiler also covers the installation of the boiler and the removal of your old one. You do not have to pay for anything.

If you choose the MFRR Company to carry out your assessment we will carry out any required technical surveys and application forms for the funding. All of our qualified DEA/GDAs are equipped with iPads that have the full Green Deal Application software installed. This means that you can see exactly what is available to you and what application is being made for funding, all from the comfort of your own home. There is no obligation or charge for this service.

No. There are three main parts to ECO and the MFRR Company will ensure that you can access the correct ECO funding. Typical energy efficiency measures that anyone can apply for are those which are particularly expensive or more specialized than standard improvements, such as loft and cavity wall insulation. The MFRR Company is concentrating on improving standards and efficiency in those properties that are most in need of insulation. If you know your property has solid walls or is known as a System Build or ‘non-Traditional’ please get in contact.

A condensing boiler is far more efficient than older boilers. It not only uses less fuel, but it makes more efficient use of the fuel it does use. Older boilers might only use 60% of the fuel it uses to produce heat, whereas a condensing boiler is designed so it can efficiently use more than 90%.

Yes. You can still change your energy supplier at any time. To register your interest Email: info@mfrr.co.uk or apply here using the application form
